Important change at MOL Bubi: you can only purchase 6-month MOL Bubi passes until 23 June
The new generation of Bubi is coming soon, so we will be discontinuing the 6-month MOL Bubi pass on 24 June. This is because the current service contract expires in December 2025, after which we will not be able to provide the maximum validity period for passes. You can purchase 6-month passes until midnight on 23 June, after which you can use the public bike-sharing system with a monthly pass or on a Pay-as-you-go basis.
After reviewing international best practices and consulting with the public and market players, BKK launched a public procurement procedure in early October 2024 to develop a new generation of the public bike system. For technical reasons, existing six-month passes cannot be transferred to the new system, so we will discontinue this product type on 24 June.
Bubi will offer more bikes and cover a larger service area
Our goal is to continue developing Bubi in the future and to make cycling in Budapest attractive with a flexibly expandable fleet covering a much larger service area than before, while maintaining affordable prices. According to plans, the new public bike-sharing system to be launched in 2026 will provide at least 5,000 bikes, of which nearly 1,000 will be electric. The new service will also be available in areas such as Örs vezér tere, Kőbánya-Kispest, Újpest-városkapu, the József Attila housing estate, Angyalföld, Zugló and Őrmező. What's more, you will be able to pick up and drop off bikes at Mobi-points.
