MOL Bubi is a public transport service by BKK, which offers a quick and eco-friendly travel option in urban transport with 24/7 availability. We created MOL Bubi in 2014 to offer a fast, efficient and sustainable mobility alternative in Budapest. MOL Bubi has become an integral part of city transport in the past few years, and it can also be easily combined with other modes of public transport. The service has gone through a transformation in 2021 based on user feedback and experiences, which resulted in the total remodelling of the bicycle, the infrastructure and pricing.
There are 211 stations at citywide locations and 2,460 bikes awaiting users, who can access the public bike-sharing service with a mobile app. However, MOL Bubi is far from being “just that.” It comprises the full road network of the service area and the FUTÁR journey planning app along with round-the-clock customer service. We are constantly ensuring that bikes are in a good condition and easily accessible: this is also guaranteed by BKK’s service contracts. We believe it is important that cycling becomes a viable option for all generations for doing their daily activities, such as running errands or commuting to work or school. That is why are constantly making developments to encourage more and more people to opt for cycling and other sustainable modes of transport.
MOL Bubi has been totally revamped to offer far better user experience: pedalling is now easier thanks to the puncture-proof, inflatable tyres and less weight of the bikes that can also roll much better than the earlier ones. Registration, purchase, checking the number of available bikes and your ride history as well as complaints management are easy to do in the new app, so you no longer need to do any of that in person. Locking and docking bikes has also become simpler, and the bikes have been equipped with a brand-new bell and a practical mobile phone holder. The redesigned bike frame and simpler adjustment of saddle height make using the bikes more convenient. In addition, the new bikes come with three luggage straps to fasten your bag, laptop, coat etc.
Redesigned MOL Bubi is simple and easy to use. All you need to do is to download the MOL Bubi app to your phone, register, then buy a pass or Pay As You Go access with a few clicks. In the app, you can also check the locations of the individual bike stations, and what is most important of all is that you can pick up the bikes by scanning the QR code found above the rear wheel. Once you have arrived to your destination, please always close the smart lock, as only then will the system detect that you have finished your ride.
