Registration

Download the MOL Bubi app and register. When registering, enter your phone number and you will receive a PIN code via SMS, which you can use to log in to the app. Then enter your personal details under 'Activate account'.

Pickup

Pick up your bike with the QR-code scanner in the MOL Bubi app.
Successful pickup is indicated when the smart lock opens with a loud click. After the beep, you're ready to roll.

Park

Parking time is included in your usage time, so only use it for short stops at off-station locations. You can only return your bike at designated stations and Mobi-points in District 6. Start the parking function in the app first and then close the smart lock. You need to end the parking session in the app by tapping on ‘Resume rental’ and you can continue cycling.

Return

Return your bike to any MOL Bubi station and close the smart lock. If you have finished your ride in District 6, you can drop off your bike at one of the 168 Mobi-points. If you lock your bike at an off-station location, i.e. not at a bike station or Mobi-point, you will have to pay a service fee of 5,000 HUF. Three beeps will indicate successful return, but you can also check this in the app.

How to use MOL Bubi from 24 December 2025

The upcoming third generation of MOL Bubi will not only bring new bikes and an expanded network to Budapest but will also completely revamp the operation of bike stations. The former docking system will no longer be necessary: it will be replaced by previously tested and proven bike racks, which are more reliable, sustainable, and flexible to use.

The conversion of the stations will also make better use of the available space, allowing more bikes to be accommodated at each location. The current totems will be gradually replaced with traffic-sign posts and markings, which will indicate the new Bubi system in the future Of course, you can still use the map in the app to find your way around.

How to use MOL Bubi in Terézváros (District 6)

You can be the first to try out the next generation of MOL Bubi in District 6 and test how it works. In addition to the usual bike stations, there are now 168 Mobi-points where you can end your journey and return the bike.

The aim of the system is to allow you to travel with Bubi in a more flexible way, better suited to your everyday routes.

You can see in advance on the MOL Bubi app map how many MOL Bubi bikes are available at a given Mobi-point. A maximum of two bikes can be placed at a Mobi-point.
If there are already two bikes at your chosen location, use the app map to find the nearest available Mobi-point.
If you see that there are not yet two bikes at the Mobi-point, but it is full and you can only lock your bike outside the green line, please find another drop-off point.
You can end your trip in the same way as before: lock the bike with the smart lock.
A beep will indicate that the return has been successful, but you can also check this in the app.
